New Toulouse is a very good virtualization of the Vieux Carré, or the old French Quarter of New Orleans. The two-region area is set in the jazz era of the 20th century, 1900 - 1925. Today is the most famous day of the year -- Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. All excesses must be out of everyone's system by the stroke of midnight, for the beginning of Ash Wednesday and the Lenten Season. Colorful banners and floats are everywhere, getting ready for the revelry which reaches it's peak this evening.
Another beautiful region, the New Toulouse Bayou lies north of the river which separates it from the main city. The steamboats and houseboats are very well done, as are the lush semitropical vegetation. Make sure to take a peak at the very well done interiors of the shops and bars in the main city of New Tolouse, but be respectful of private property when you visit this highly recommended destination.
All photography was taken using Windlight Sky Setting (SS) Atmospheric 15:00 Cloudy 2 which comes standard on the Firestorm viewer. I like the gentle warm lighting effect, with a slight haze, which this setting gives.
Another very well done rendition of the old French Quarter can be visited in Second Life, St. John's Parish. I reviewed this destination last August. You can catch my photography and full review here:
