Well it happened the other day, I figured something was up when I noticed that Jessica Lyon was on-line extensivel...
to read more of JayR's thinking about the new Firestorm viewer:
The Virtual World Technologist: SecondLife : The New FireStorm Viewer Makes It's D...:
Note from Eddi: I read the release notes and there continue to be problems with advanced ATI cards which require Catalyst drivers and Firestorm. The problem (and I cannot get good graphics even after these fixes) appears to be with OpenGL objects- Catalyst does not work well this. The same problems happen when I use the official Second Life viewer and Open GL Objects.
If you have problems as an ATI user try Exodus. This works well for me.
Do yourself a favor and buy a rig with an NVDIA card the next time you upgrade. ATI and Second Life simply do not get along well enough to cohabitate.
When I first went on SL I had problems. Dell recommended a NVDIA card which I got and installed. With this article I decided to check into setting for the card. Will have to check it our and maybe I will be able to get a lot out of my firestorm upgrade. Thanks for this article. You seem to always lead me in the right direction. I am very cautious about changing settings until I know I can get back to where I started. I will work on it.
ReplyDeleteLook like a lot of setting for the card. I will work on that until I think I have it the way I want it. then I will work on Firestorm settings. Time permitting that is. Very busy at this time.
