Its Bastille Day, The National Holiday of France - The Singing of the Marseillaise in the Movie Casablanca in 1942

Happy Bastille Day!  It is the national holiday of France, celebrating the storming of the Bastille Prison in 1789, and the beginning of the French Revolution.

The great Marseillaise, the National Anthem of France, and one of the best every written, will be played today in France together with great firework displays. 70 years ago, in 1942, during the Second World War when France was occupied by the Nazis, the great movie Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogard and Ingrid Bergman was released. The singing of La Marseillaise, which was banned at the time, in this movie is one of the most emotional scenes ever done, and I am playing it here in honor of today.

Vive La France!
