Having SL problems lately? Are you or other people grey or clouds? Are you super laggy? Other issues?
This is why.
I am cutting and pasting information below from the Second Life Grid Status web site for today. And this has been going on for the past several weeks. Linden Lab is updating server and inventory management software, and ultimately, the upgrade of computer power will allow for more powerful and faster applications to be deployed inworld. Mesh also is a big tax on the existing server architecture, and is being addressed.
What can you do about this?
Well, if you are following basic advice on removing old files and multiple instances of viewers on your computer, and installing fresh viewers, clearing your cache, reducing your graphics, etc. ---
Basically nothing. It's fixed when it's fixed.
Also, if Linden says that the matter is "resolved", my experience is that the "issue" tends to stick around for several more hours if not the entire day.
The next big day for disruption looks to be November 1. Let's hope we can get through the important Halloween party weekend in peace.
