Suomi, or the name of Finland in the unique Finnish language, wowed me with lighting and atmospherics. Suomi, much like the nation of Finland itself, is heavily forested with vast expanses of lakes and waterways. The season is here is winter, with the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) dancing high in the sky above a snowy and quiet landscape. You can imagine Tapio. the spirit of the Finnish woodlands, working his magic in the frosty air (see below for more about Tapio). This is a particularly gorgeous destination, a must -see, and one that I highly recommend.

Tapio is the forest spirit of Finnish Legends. It has inspired one of the greatest and most evocative musical compositions of the 20th century, the tone poem Tapiola, which is the last completed symphonic work of the great Finnish conductor Jean Sibelius. Play this music during your visit for maximum enjoyment.
