Bastille Day, The National Holiday of France. is 225 Years Old Today

Bastille Day, the National Day of France, celebrates the storming of the Bastille, and the beginning of the French Revolution, in 1789.  This year is the 225th anniversary of the event.

Eddi Celebrates Bastille Day in 2009

In honor of the Bastille day, I am playing Mireille Mathieu's legendary performance of La Marseillaise, the national anthem of France, from the 1989 bicentennial. The Eiffel Tower is in the background. I rank this as the greatest recording of any national anthem ever done. This recording was banned from You Tube for a long time due to copyrights, I hope it stays up though the 2014 holiday.
