Modern Architecture: The New World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York Is Nothing Short of Spectacular

The spectacular 9/11 Memorial Museum opens today in New York City almost 13 years after the loss of the twin towers at the World Trade Center.  It joins One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the United States, and the sunken 9/11 Memorial  fountains as spectacular proof that New York City has recovered physically from the attacks.

I think that the most architecturally impressive structure at the World Trade Centerwill open at the end of next year. The spectacular new train station,  the unpleasant sounding Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) Transportation Hub, will be one of the greatest pieces of modern architecture built in the United States. Celebrated Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava has designed the 4 billion dollar structure.

The Transportation Hub will be one of the busiest in the world, and,is designed to accommodate 250,000 passengers per day.  Although the project has been scaled back a bit to save construction costs, it sill is gorgeous -- take a look at these architectural renderings, and how the building looks now under construction.
