The parcel description for Calico tells us that the town was abandoned many years ago, and that no one knows exactly why. The area looks like it was hit by a bad earthquake -- but this alone would not explain why everyone was in such a rush to leave. The destination itself is very atmospheric and a pleasure to photograph. The collapsed bridge has towers that are reminiscent of The Golden Gate Bridge; you can see them in the next photo below. This is a very atmospheric destination and highly recommended for a visit.
I used the Thalia Light 01 Windlight Sky Setting to get this grey foggy effect. I also sharpened the images a bit to bring out the detail and applied a slight Lomo effect to each image.
