The enormous Chateau, or Palace of Versailles, located outside Paris, has over 200 acres of surrounding gardens and fountains. Versailles is famous not only famous as a building, but as a symbol of the excesses of absolute monarchy. Second Life Versailles is similarly enormous and majestic.
I remember the first time I toured Versailles in first life, I was very impressed by the sheer size of the place. The build in Second Life gives an indication of this -- it is hard to see the entire structure even when you set your distance at maximum.
Ninjah Valeeva is the builder and designed of the series of three Versailles sims, and it's reigning monarch. I was lucky enough to meet her when I was in period costume, after a New Year's day party held by Dimi and Mark Tarantello that I attended as Ryce with my partner Benja. She gave me the honor of a formal dance.
Ninjah also designed the period outfit I have on, you can catch her very well priced creations on her store at the sim or here on SL Marketplace:
The 18th Century Clothing Shop:
(you can teleport to the Renaissance shop when you are there)
Ninjah Valeeva had produced several machinima on Versailles, many featuring her detailed period clothing.
You can see all her videos on her You Tube channel here. I show one of my favorite, a ball in the Hall of Mirrors, below:
