Celebrating France in Second Life Week: The Chateau of Versailles

The Royal Apartments

The enormous Chateau, or Palace of Versailles, located outside Paris, has over 200 acres of surrounding gardens and fountains. Versailles is famous not only famous as a building, but as a symbol of the excesses of absolute monarchy. Second Life Versailles, located on two sims, is similarly enormous and majestic.

I remember the first time I saw Versailles in first life I was blown away by the sheer size of the place. The build in Second Life  gives an indication of this -- it is hard to see the entire structure even when you set your distance at maximum.

I have a new gallery featuring large-scale landscape photography. Through April 30, I will be featuring the photography of France in his gallery.  You can visit my new gallery here:

I also have a related feature on the photography of virtual France sims in the April issue of GMP magazine which you can find here on page 72:

The Hall of Mirrors

This machinima by Versailles in Second Life shows Second Life Versailles to good effect. This machimima is evocative and very well down, with great filming and music selections.
