Today is the First Harvey Milk Day
Harvey Milk, the gay rights activist and San Francisco Supervisor would have been 80 today if he had lived and had not been assassinated in 1978. In honor of him, The State of California has proclaimed that May 22 will be known and celebrated as Harvey Milk Day. Celebrations and remembrances are occurring around the United States. Thank you Harvey for giving your life so that other LGBT people can be accepted as equals.

Harvey Milk is such an important figure in our gay rights history. I hope his day gets honored some day beyond the state of California.
